Lovisek will introduce facts about snakes in- cluding their feeding habits and biology in an attempt to dispell some of the common myths and misconceptions that surround them. The highlights of the collection are a large Burmese python and a boa constrictor. STORY HOUR The Whitby Public Library will be holding its regular Saturday morning story hour for children age 5 and up between 10: 30 and 11: 30 a.m. throughout the month of June. PRE-SCHOOL STORY HOUR Because of the response experienced Iast year, the Whitby Public Libr&ary has an- nounced that registration will be required for this summer's pre-school story hour. DAY CAMP Registration for this summer 's Christmas Seal Day Camp for asthmatic children is now under way, with 25 available vacancies for children aged between 5 and 9 at the Camp Samac facility. Funded by Durham Region Lung Association, the Camp will operate between Monday, July 13 and Friday, July 24 (week- days only) and prior registration is essential. Asthmatic children frequently miss out on summer fun because of their breathing dif- ficulties, and the main objective of the Christ- mas Seal Day Camp is to demonstrate that, with only a littie extra care, they can par- ticipate in regular summer activities as fully as their non- asthmatic friends. Ail the usual activities associated with cam- ping will be offered un- der the supervision of five camp staff, in- cluding a registered ( nurse; cookouts, nature trails, water sports, country crafts and a sleep-over night on Thursday, July 23 are ail featured in the camp experience. Door-to-door bus transportation is available for children resident in Oshawa and Whitby. Due to rising costs, the Lung Association is no longer able to off er this program f ree of charge, and registration fees for the two week period have been set at $20 per child (with transpor- tation) or $12.50 per chlld (witiiout transpor- tation).
