Grenada is working hard at keeping prices down An acquaintance of mine who owns and operates a busy restaurant told me last w cek tha t one of the toughest jobs in the restaurant business today is buying food. Food purchasîng 15 of prime importance, he declared, or you will go un- der. One restaurant that has been holding the price line for a long time is the Granada Restaurant in Sheridan Maîl, Pickering. Manager, Jimmy Sarvinis and his partners have alwaysbeen careful food buyers. They select good quality and at prices they can pass on to their customers. Dining Guide Le CHALET DINING ROOM, 100 Dundas Street, Whltby 668-4377 Long a favourite eating spot for people in Durham Region, Le Chalet specializes in Seafood, Steaks and Roast Beef. They feature a businessmen's luncheon from $300 and up. Dinner for two is from $15.00 and up. A salad bar is included with full course meals. Al major credit cards are ac- cepted. Le Chalet is open Monday to Thursday from noon to il p.m., Friday noon to 12:30 a.m., and Saturday 4 p.m. to 12:30 arn. and Sunday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant is licensed. cOACHII fOUSE, STEAK HOUSE & TAVERN, 939 Dundas St. W., Wbitby, 668- 2751. One of the better dining spots in the Whitby and district area, you wilI enjoy eating at this restaurant. Steaks and Seafood are the specialties of the house, but they have other items you wilI want to try as weIl. For a short time the Coach flouse is featuring a special on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday evenings for the din- ner hour. Tuesday it is New York 8 oz. sirloin at $8.95, regular $10.25. On Wed- nesday it is Surf 'n Turf for $14.95 instead of the usual $1695. Sunday you can have spare ribs for only $6.95 as compared to the regular $8.50. The Coach House honours ail major credit cards and there is ample free parking. They open every day but Monday. THE GREAT WALL, 116 Dundas Street West, Whitby. 668-7021. A favorite eatîng spot for Chinese food loyers. A large selection of Canadian dishes also served. Prices range from $2.50 and up for lunch, and $345 and up for dinner. Open from Il a.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays, Friday and Saturday npen tilI 2:30 a.m. We are now fully licensed. They have even adver- tised in this newspaper that, despite recent increases in liquor, beer and wine, meats and vegetables, they have been staying within the same price list they used back in 1980. The Grenada has often advertised that you can eat in that restaurant as cheap as you can eat at home. Some of the Grenada com- petitors will argue with that statement, but the fact is that the menus have not been changed for some time. The Grenada owners also have the Le' Centre family restaurant in Sheridan Mail, and have been selling coffee at 25 cents a cup for the past nine months. They publicly claim they will keep on doing this. Having eaten many times at the Grenada, and during the course of several years, having sampled many of the meat items, we can per- sonally verify that the Grenada Restaurant indeed does serve up top quality.
