ASHBURN COMMUNITY CENTRE A dance will be held at the Thunderbird Golf Club on March 7, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be a disc jockey, bar and buffet. Sonley on Wednesday last. A film "Anonymous was a Woman" was shown by Mrs. Dorothy Lintjens of the Brooklin Public Library. A display of articles stamped "made in Canada", other items from other countries were shown, and a discussion took place. Mrs. Marion Hall chaired the meeting. Records from Atlas were stated by secretary treasurer Miss Alice Arnold stating exact population of countries per square mile. Mrs. Levi Arksey gave current events bringing us up to date on the election. This international meeting convened by Mrs. Eileen Young was most informative. Hostesses Mrs. R. Sonley, Mrs. Levi Arksey and Mrs. Nora Walker. Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at the Brooklin Community Centre. Tweedsmuir History meeting - Roll Call "Name a Member of Parliament." Directors will meet in the afternoon on March 5 at the Brooklin Centre. WHITBY COMMUNITY CARE Whitby Community Care, a volunteer service for Seniors, is rapidly expanding in the Whitby, Brooklin and Myrtle areas. Our client file now numbers over 500! We can use volunteers immediately to assist with driving, light housework, and office duties, particularly typing. Volunteers who directly assist clients receive a small remuneration. A few hours a week is all we need. To our clients, we are presently arranging appointments to assist with Income Tax. If you can be of assistance or, if you need assistance, please call 668-6223. Val will not only tell us about library services, but will also show film strips on crafts, the usual and unusual. Our meetings start at 7:45. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments served. BROOKLIN AND DISTRICT PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE ASSOCIATION The card party committee under the chairmanship of Bob Carson and Bill Grylls wish to thank all those who con- tributed to the success of the event. Despite the fog, the tur- nout was excellent. There was a good representation of both the youth and the senior citizens of the area. The delicious refreshments were supplied under the convenership of Grace Guthrie and Verna Sheppard. George Ashe was present to present the prizes while his wife Margo participated in the progressive euchre. High scorers were Helen Breen and Russell Bryans. This is the scene during a recent morning rush at down- town Whitby's Donald Travel, the home of the local office of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the people who hand out, for a fee, the 1981 license plate stickers.
