Willaim Hurt, Sigourney - Weaver, Christopher Plummer and James Woods star in the 2th Century- Fox release, produced and directed by Peter Yates and written by Steve Tesich. Yates and Tesich, who previously collaborated on the Academy Award- winning "Breaking Away," create an intricate, in- triguing thriller of oddly mismatched characters thrown together by perilous circumstances, of romance that hovers on the edge of danger. William Hurt, introduced in "Altered States," plays Daryll Deever, an unassuming janitor who has only two extravagances: his motorcycle, and a video recorder which he uses to tape the late news featuring Tony Sokolow, a star repor- ter who mesmerizes Daryli with her beauty and sophistication. Sigourney Weaver, who made her screen debut as the sole survivor of the space crew .in "Alien," is Tony, the woman of Daryll's fantasies who unexpectedly enters his reality when she is assigned to investigate a murder in the building where Daryli works the lonely night shift. To prolong his contact with the alluring Tony, Daryll dlaims to have knowledge about the mur- derer. His misleading but provocative statement leads to a love affair that places both of their lives in jeopar- dy. Christopher Plummer is Tony's finance, a suave foreigni diplomat victimized by bis beliefs, and James Woods is Daryll's quirky friend who has a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also prominefitly featured are Pamela Reed, Irene Worth, Albert Paulsen, Steven Hill, Kenneth MeMillan and Alice Drummond.
