WIIITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY il, 1981. PAGE 17 Each day is much sweeter I would be saved. I prayed and He saved me! That night when I got home I sat down and wrote the following poem: "I was sitting there relaxed, listening to the preacher But my heart began to pound, when I heard the preacher say... Unless your born again you will never get to Heaven, Why don't you come and be born again today. My heart was getting heavy and the devil said, stay here! But I heard the Lord whisper softly in my ear, Don't let the devil keep you, come on and take your stand, VIl guide you through your troubles, I'l always hold your hand. I began to think back at all the sins I'd done, My heart was loaded with them, I could no longer run. I took the Lord's advice, and I stood up on my feet, And back from the Lord I would never ever retreat." I later learned a song that says "That every.day with Jesus is sweater than the day before." Now, 25 years later I can honestly say ·that the song is true. Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. Today everyone is talking about being "born again" it's the largest fad. The sports heros, the politicians, the movie ac- tors and almost every other group has claimed to have had the "born again experience". The Bible says "By their fruit ye shall know them"..."The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gen- tleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance." (Self control) The Bible also says that in the last days that many will call him "Lord, Lord, but will not do the things that He says to do." There is more to being born again than voting for Jesuý. If we put the right information into a computer it will vote for Jesus. To be 'saved or born again is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God. When this happens the Bible says that "old things pass away and all things become new." There is a story recorded in John, Chapter 3 where a man discussed this issue. In summing up this newspaper article I would suggest that you would enjoy taking a minute to read this account in the Word of God. By THE REV. ROBERT D. KIRKLAND, D.D. Rector Fundalmental Baptist Church Twenty-five years ago, as a 12 year-old lad I heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time. I can not remember what the preacher's text was about, or what his message was, but I recall just as if it had been yesterday that when he gave an invitation to those present to receive Jesus Christ as their personal saviour, that God spoke to me of my need to be saved. Most of the friends I went to school with were at this meeting and the thought of leaving my seat to go forward in a meeting and have them all laugh at me the next day at school was repulsive thought. My first reaction was to stay in my seat but as God con- tinued to deal with me I walked the isle to the front where a man explained what the Bible says about being sure of going to heaven. I found that the Bible says that we are all sinners and that the wages of sin is death. I found that Jesus Christ paid the sin debt on Calvary's Cross and that if I-received Him as my personal saviour that Ambulance DON UT N'B During the week that en- ded at midnight last Thur- Specializing sday, the Whitby Ambulance 6 arn. -9 p.r Service responded to 100 calls for service.
