Teams representing Fron- tenac, Eatons and CKAR radio station in Oshawa comprised the remaining contenders. Throughout the day each team played eight games in a day of fun competition. Frontenac finished in third place behind WPH and the Adolecent 'Unit with Eatons coming in fourth and CKAR placing last. "This is something we are going to do evey year now," said Tom Lawrence of the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital. Lawrence said that the trophey was named after W.G. Morgan, the man who invented volleyball. The end of regular play saw WPH earn a by into the finals for their first place finish with a record of 8-0. The Adolescent Unit finished behind them with a record of 5-3 while Fron- tenac and Eatons tied for third place with 3-5 and CKAR placed last with a record of 1.7. Frontenac advanced to the semi finals ahead of Eatons because they scored more points during regular play. The Adolecent Unit beat Frontenac two games to one 15-13, 8-15 and 15-12 before getting stopped in their tracks by the WPH team in the finals. The WPH team won two straight games to capture the title, 15-6 and 15-2. "We got a lot of support from the administration and the union here," said Lawrence. "They really went out of their way to help us.,, WISC gear up for new year Chris Donnelly walked off with four first place finished at a confederation swim meet hosted by the Scar- borough Spartans Aquatic Club. Donnelly placed first in the boys ten and under 100 metre fly, 200 metre backstroke, 200 metre free style and 200 metre In- dividual Medley as well as capturing a third place finish in the 200 metre breaststroke. Jill Connor placed third int the girls 10 and under 100 metre fly while team mate Donna Goulding placed third in the girls 13/14 200 metre fly. Brent Walsh placed second in the boys ten and under 200 metre backstroke and third in the 200 metre free style. Steve Currie captured second and third place for his efforts in the boys 13/14 200 metre backstroke and 200 metre fly respectively. WISC senior boy's David Goulding won third place in the 200 metre I.M. The swimmers are now gearing up for the Huronia Invitational swim meet in Midland on January 30 and the upcoming Durham Regional Championships which WISC shall host for the third consecutive year. Hawks drop 3 to O'Neil Something about O'Neil Collegiate in Oshawa did not quite click with the Henry Stree Hawks last week as the O'Neil Redmen dumped the Hawks- in three straight games. In the closest game of the match-up two last second free throws by Redmen Tony Gordon gave the game to O'Neil defeating tht Hawk's senior team 55-53. The loss dropped the Hawks froni the undefeated ranks in the Lake Ontario Secondary School Association landing them a record of five and one. Phil LeBlanc and Garvin Clarke scored 18 pointes each for the Hawks while Brent Sullivan picked up il. The big story for O'Neil was Collin Tureski, who sank 18 points and Gordon. who sank 16 points and was credited with seven steals. "They shot very well," said Hawk coach Mike Brousseau of their opponen- ts. "I would like to see 44's (Tureski) shooting percen- tage. They were all clutch shots." In another close matched game the junior Redmen pulled a 59-56 win over the Hawks. AI Donaldson lead the Hawk with 16 points while the team mates Mark Scrutin added 13 points and Chris Huxter and Ian Porter each scnred eight. In the midget game O'Neil again defeated the Hawks 47-38. SPORTS Anderson split a pair of games with Curtis last week during Lake Ontario Secondary School Association basketball league play. The Curtis junior team defeated the Raiders 60-42 while the Raiders midget team handled Curtis 40-25.
