About four hundred people have seen the exhibit including groups of school children. It is well worth a visit. Carol will be at the Library on May 24 from 1 p.ni. to 4 p.m. to explain ber work and to give out copies of "Solutions to Pollution" colouring books to each student. SOME ACTIVITIES AT DR. ROBERT THORNTON SCHOOL .Twenty two Grade Five students arrived this past week from their homes in St. Charles Quebec, to spend three days with Dr. Robert Thornton pupils and their parents. On May 17 they visited the Science Centre in Toronto. In the evening there was a dinner at the school provided byý the parents and a presentation of Commemorative Plaques. The visit was thoroughly enjoyed by ail. A number of Grade Five and Six children are going to St. Charles, just north of Montreal on May 30 to June 1. Have a good Urne! Forty Grade Eight students will go to Quebec City on June 18 to June 21. You will ail have a great time. The city is one of the most interesting in Canada. The evening features the Andersbn Junior Band, Concert Band, and Stage Ba nd,* softball As you visit Iroquois Park, you will find one new sof tball diamond with lights and two other 'softball diamonds without lights under cons- truction. Ruddy General Hospital Auxilliary held its Annual Spring Luncheon on Tuesday May 15, at St. Mark's United Church Hall. Mrs. Pat O'Neill, Regional Ch!fr*nUm,liegion 7 of the Hospital Auxilliary Assoc- iation was guest speaker for this occasion. A dynamie speaker, Mrs. O'Neill reminded the Hospital -Auxilliary members of the importance of volunteers in our com- mercial' ly oriented- society; those people who give of their time for the joy 'of giving and because they see work, that must be done. Mrs. O'-Neill was intro- duced by past president, Mrs. Barbara Boagey and was thanked by Mrs. Evelyn Bonnetta. One of the new unhlighted softball diamonds is being financially assisted by the Whitby Kinsmen Club., The Kinsmen recently approved the funds to be donated to the Town of Whitby to construct a-back- stop for the diamond, to be ready for the 1979 season. The new diamond is to be called' the "Kinsmen Diamond". The monies the Kinsmen raise through various pro- jects in the town are used for projeets such as the one described. Other areas the Kinsmen are active in are supporting sports teams al year round. The Kinsmen sponsor teams in hockey, ringette, softball, basebaîl and soccer. They also , get involved with senior citizens and the YMCA. pop, I DON'T FENCE ME IN Roger Couturier and Peter Koch, of a local welding firm, were busy last week constructing the backstop for one of the softball diamonds in Iroquois Park.
