He had been to the Pro- gressive Conservative Womens Association lun- cheon in the Brooklin United Church earlier in the day. Mr. Fennell agreed at the luncheon with Jean Pigott, Progressive Conservative MP for Ottawa-Carlton and the Conservative's critic for housing and urban affairs, when she said what "a government has to do is to get the ecopomy moving again." He thanked Trudeau for "putting us in to this disas- trous mess," of Canada owing the other countries money and the other coun- tries owning the Canadians. He told the evening meet- ing that he has "noticed a definate swing towards the Progressive Conservatives" as 'he travels through the Riding. "They all hate Trudeau as much as I do, and we want to get rid of Trudeau. The new homeowners and the younger people are worried about this country." Mr. Fennell pointed out that he does have a "sound farming background" and that he has judged herds and livestock at plowing matches." He said that he believes in private enterprise. "Private enterprise has been most Members .of Council learned last week that the residents on the Garden Street area are being an- noyed by motorcyclists. The motorcyclists are not travelling the acceptd way along the street; they are "cutting cross country" along the backyard fence lines. A letter stated that the residents of Garden Street object to the cross country motorcyclists. They asked Council to have something done about the matter. Mayor Jin Gartshore said that the Council would ask the police to look into the matter. He agreed that it is a problem not only for the residents but also for the police. Counil members agreed that the police do have diffi- culty tying to catch the offenders as the police are not equipped with motor- cycles. Councillor Bob Attersley pointed out that atfew years ago residents in another area of the town were plagued by the same type of problem until the police found a solu- tion. There were some members of the police force who have motorcycles. These officers, using their own motorcycles, patrolled the area, chased the offen- ders across the fields and laid charges. It was in this manner that they cleanedi up the area. He suggested that by using this type of method, the motorcycle problem in the Garden Street area could be "celeaned up." de residents
