About 50 women and 15 men are expected to com- pete for positions on junior and senior provincial teams, to compete in the Canadian Championships, and for in- dividual honors. Among the stars of the OPSEU Warriors Novice The OPSEU Warriors have completed a very successful 1978-1979 hockey season, cap- turing the AA Novice Lake- shore Championship and winning the prestigeous Orillia Mighty Mite Tourna- ment. In winning the Mighty Mite Tournament the Warriors Curling club names winners On March 14 at the Whitby Curling Club the playoffs were held to determine the overall winners in the-Mixed division. On April 25 at 6 p.m. the representative team banquet will be held, followed by the house league teams from Major Bantam to Juvenille at 8 p.m. Stick clinie The Brooklin Redmen Lacrosse Club wish to announce that they are host- ing a "Lacrosse Stick Clinic" in co-operation with CANAM LACROSSE LIMITED of St. Catherines, Ontario. The "clinic" will be held at the same time as a Brooklin Redmen practice at 1 p.m., on Sunday, April 22, at Brooklin Memorial Arena on Winchester Road in Brooklin. Dick Morningstar and Wes Patterson of CANAM LACROSSE will be on hand with samples of their sticks which include 18 different models of the Patterson Lacrosse stick. In addition, Wes Patterson will be setting up equipment to do stick repairs on-the-spot that day. All lacrosse organizations are invited to attend as are individual playeirs who might need a new stick or require repars to an old one. Members of the public who would like to see how lacrosse sticks were made are also welcome to drop in. On April 29 at 1 p.m. house league players from Squirt to Minor Pee Wee will attend their banquet, followed by the Major Pee Wee to Minor Bantam banquet at 3 p.m. All players, coaches and managers are invited to at- tend the banquets sponsored by the Ladies' Auxiliary and held at Heydenshore Pavilion. Whitby outscored the Buffalo Shamrocks 5-4 in the semi- finals and won the title 4-3 against Boston Hobomock Massachusettes again in overtime. In capturing the Lake- shore Novice AA Champion- ship, Whitby eliminated Ajax in the quarter-finals, outshot Markham in the semi-finals in two games and defeated Bay Ridges for the Championship in three straight contests. The Warriors record also indrides a first place finish in league play and tourna- ment wins in Bay Ridges, Bowmanville, Brooklin- Whitby, Beaverton, Uxbridge and Cobourg. The team was also tournament finalists in Oshawa and Peterborough. The Whitby team members include Trevor Anyon and Greg Melong in goal, David Clarke, Kevin Mitchell, Jaan Luik and Scott Luik on Defense, David Tomsic, Chris Guilbert, Chris Page, Jay Summers, Todd Wilson, John Win- dover, Michael O'Meara, Sean Whitehead, Danny Pratt and Joshua Foster on forward. Larry Windover coached the team assisted by Garry.Clarke and Ando Luik was the Manager. Female gymnasts will compete on four pieces of equipment--uneven bars, vault, beam and floor. Men will compete on six pieces of equipment, including para- Ilel bars, pommel horse, rings, vault, floor routines and high bars. The program consists of a warm-up at noon, April 21, with the competition starting at 2 p.m. with the Junior National Level II women's optional routines and the Junior I and Junior National men's optionals. At 5 p.m. there will be evening warm-ups with the Senior Elite Women, Senior National Men's Options and National I Elementary women's optionals at 7 p.m. On April 22, the warm-ups start at il a.m. The JuVior National women and Senior National men's compulsory event will get under way at 1 p.m., followed by the Natio- nal I Novice women's optio- nals and Junior I and Junior National Men's compulsories.
