Christian Reformed Church at 30 Elizabeth Cresent, which was founded by the emerging community of. Dutch immigrants iný the Whitby-Oshawa area in 1954. The 'program of special events began Tuesday with a combined meeting of al catechism' classes. Rev. Fred Bakker, the pastor of the church, spoke 'on the church's history. (see Historical Whitby Column) and there were musical con- tributions. Tonight at 7:30 p.m. the annual meeting of the Young People Society will be held and members of the, con- gregation are cordially in- vited to attend, Thursday at 8 p.m. there will be a special Mission Evening for ail members of the congregation. The guest speaker will be Rick DeGraaff from Bangladesh. There will be a slide pro- gram, sponsored by the Ladies and Men Societies. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at O'Neill Collegiate, Simcoe Street North, Oshawa, there will be a, free evening 'of fellomjhip and entertain- ment wi th participation of al societi.- , choirs, and groups. Beach development receives $18812 George Ashe, M:P.P. for Durham West Provincial Riding, advised tod ay that theMinistry of Culture and Ilecreation has approýved a Wintario Capital Support grant of approximately $18,812, to assist with the improvements to -Iroquois Beach Park in Whitby. In calculating the max- imum amount of Wintario grant for this project, the Ministry assumed thàt the Town of Whitby will receive a grant 'of equal amount under' The Comnmunity Recrea tion Centres Act from the Province.' If the actual amount ap- proved under The Commnu- nity Recreation Centres Act is more or less than this amùaunt, an appropriate re- vision will be made to the Wintario grant to ensure that the Town,,does receive its full entitlement. This is a further commit- ment by the Provincial Government to the ongoing development of Iroquois Beach Park. Both in 1977 and 1978 the Ministry 0f Natural' Resources provided $25,000 under The Parks Assistance Act to this same project, for a total of $50.000.
