Returning officer Bill Walace reported a 36.1 per cent turnout, which he said was more- Iban expected witbout a rnayoralty election, altbough less than in previous elections. In 1976 teewas a 47 per cent turnout. This year, 7,606 out of 21,061 eligible voters cast tbeir ballots. REGIONAL COUNCIL Bob Attersley easily led tbe poils for regional council witb 4,062 votes, followed by Gerry Emrn with 3,758. Tom Edwards, who has served for 15 years on the town council aud four years of the sebool board, came up short of gainïng a regional seat, taking only 3,675 votes. Newcorner, Roger Smith received 1,463 votes. These are unofficial figures.
