Ruddy General Hospit.al is expected to begin within the next weeku. Last week the hospital received approval1 of the tender price of $206,000 from the1 Ontario Ministry of' Health, said Hospital Admin- istrator John Kunetsky. The tender was awarded to H.R. Stark, Co. Ltd., of Oshawa., Originally, the tender bids came in.$56,000 steam plant begins over budget estimates, but ,a reduced -price was agreed upon after meetings held by the hospital's Board of Governors. The Ontario Ministry of Health is paying two thirds of the cost of the project, and the Dr. Ruddy'Hospital, _one. third, said Mr. Kunetsky. The planit will consist of twolow pressure bolers With provision for expansion'. According te, Mr. Kunetsky it. is a 'guarded, plant' wh ich will require only one station- ery engineer, and will be. economnical *to operate. Completion is expected early in the spring of 1979. Since the hospital opened nine years ago, It has been served by steam piped front the beating, plant at, the Whitlw Psychiatrie Hospital. Because of leaks in the return, pipe, the hospital had to, decide whether to replace the pipe, or build its own plant. There was no guaran- tee that the hospital would be able te use the psychiatric hospital',s: plant indefinitely, said Mr. Kunetsky., Since a new pipe would cost as much as a new plant, the hospîtal -board voted to build "a plant of its own, he said. TÉhe stearn is used to, heat the hospital, sterilize instru- ments, and wash dishes and carts.
