PAGE 10 WEDNESDAY,1NOVEMBER 1, 1978, WHITBY FREE PRESS> Four candidates seek two regional conciel seats Cont'd- from P. 9 Whitby and the Region in return for these taxes. 1 believe that municipal taxes have reached the absolute maximum and that even at the risk of cutting back on services they shouid be held at the present level or even reduced if possible. Tle cost of Regionai Government has been exces- sive and the Regional Government concept has been largely responsible for the enormous increases in our Municipal tax bill since 1974. The duplication of varjous Town and Region admiînis- trativý and planning services lias been a major factor in adding flot only to the cost of municipal govern- nient buttIo the bureaucratie red tape that the average citizen encounters when try- ing to deal with the staff of either The Region, or the Town. How many Urnes have you had the experience of attempting to deal withý personnel on the staff of the Townonly to be told that it's the Regional staff's respon- sibility or vice versa? If I ami elected your Regional Councillor on November l3th you can rest assured that I will do muy level best to alleviate both of these probiems.
