The float was in honor of the Shier clan, dating back to the immigration to Canada from Ireland in the year 1830. The Shier clan hold an annual picnic in Cannington with an gpproximate attendance of 200. Bruce Shier is currently President of the clan, and will be Preýident again in 1979.
