Free Pres 0Pot *1~ Citizen s'aves towns's trees Whitby Recreation Direc- tor Wayne DeVeau is offering the hearty thanks of his department to a goodJ citizen of the Town of Whitby. Thanks to mrs. E. Harrison, of 326 Rosedale Drive, five Royal Park iberian Elm Trees planted this spring, will survive the summer. Ever since the dry speil started in early July, Mrs. Harrison bas watered the trees, which were planted by the recreation department in the spring in Blair Park, adjacent to Rosedale Drive near her home. The trees are immune to Dutch Elm disease, but when one of the trees was nearly, stripped of its, foliage by arrny worms a few weeks ago, Mrs. Harriso n become concerned and called the recreation department. The departmént sprayed the trees and killed the worms, and has continued to treat them with regular watering.
