Subdivision alpproved despite some objections Council has voted, to take no aýtion:on objections to a subdivision proposed'for the soutWieast corner, of Coch- rane! Street and Rossland Road, and will send the plan to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval. Administrative committee Chairman councillor Tom Edwards said most of the objections to the subdivision had been resoived, but Councillor Bob Attersley expressed concern that what is now in the plans rnay not becomereality. He expres- sed particular concern about the wishes of existing resi- dents for more major re- creational facilities. The subdivision, by Cadillac-Fairview, is expect- ed to increase the population of the area by 2,700 people. Plans cal for the existing soccer field ini the area to be reiocated to south of Palmerston school when the development is completed. John Williams, a consult- ant for the developer, says there Will be more open space fthan what is officiaiiy required. The 9.9 acres of park land are three more acres than the town requires and there will also be an additional four acres of open space, he said. Mr. Williams also said there will be only 17 street town houses out of the 320 units in the development. Councillor Edwards said that although not all the objections have been with- drawn, he can see no sense in delaying the development.
