President John Jefferies opened the 'meeting by ex- pressing his pleasure at the number of guests from, Ajax, Pickering and Brookîju and then welcomed back E.R. Pope, Chairman of the Civic Garden Club, Toronto and his panel. 1 There followed a discus- sion on the cultivation of Iris, Peonies and Dahlias and the panel provod to be a very knowledgeable group on ail three subjects. The question and answerr portion of the programni proved informative as wejl as amusing, asMr. Poîie's garden jokes were not only witty but "earthy" as well. Following the panel dis- cussion, Marg Davis, with the assistance of Audrey Young, announced 'the winners for the evening. The Best Specimen Award went to Ann Beauclerc of Whitby and was donated by Alice Cô,ates. The prize for Best Foliage Plant was received by Audrey Young. President Jefferies then thanked -Mr. Pope and his panel and the other partici- pants for making this such an enjoyable and successful evening.
