Boyd Cliesney lias been appointed a memnber of the Board of Directors. He will fil'a vacancy on the board created by the resignation of William S. Nurse who lias served on the board for niîie years. Additionally, th.e board lias natned Mr. Chesney as the General Chairman for the 1978 Fund-Raising campaign. Long active in community affairs, Mr. Chesney was as- sistant campaign chairman in 1977 and publicity group chairman in 1976 for the Oshawa-Whitby United Way. He currently is President of the Oshawa brandi of the Canadian Red Cross Socety and is Chairman,,Public Rela- tion Comnittee, of the Na- tional Junior Achievement of Caniada.. A memnber of the Oshawa Chamber of Coimmerce, Mr. Chesney served on the Board of Directors li 1974. He formerly was on the Board of Directors ofthe Oshawa & District Association for the mientally retarded and was active in raising funds for the extension to Glenhome'Arc Industries., Mr. Chesney joined. Gen- eral Motors in 1953 upon graduation from the School of Business Administration, The University of Western Ontario. Born at St. Thomas, Ontario, his entire career has been with General Motors at its Diesel Division at London, Ontario and at Oshawa. Early, assignments at London were in public relations,advertising and sales promotion work. In January, 1960, he. was pro- moted to A dve rtising Manager He was appointed Manager of Public Relations and Adver- tising in ,March, 1962. Mr. Chesney transferred to the P'ublic Relations staff at Oshawa in October, 1973. While at London, Mr. Chesney took a leadership role in United Way campaignis.
