Corridor- Cape rs Its back to the grind. If. Tom Edwards can get away with it, so canI1- hre goes! T'was the Thursday after Chriýtmas, 1 yawn at the moon, When Brian reminds me,. Column- deadline, to-morrow, twelve O'clock noon. 1 dash for the typewriter, the keys I caress, For noone dares hold up, printing of the FREE PRESS. The news is so stale, and my mînd is ret reating, So l'Il just reminisce, about past Council meetings. Jirn marches in, with, his gown ail a-flutter, We stand at attention, cease even a mutter. Then Tommy orates, so I curi up ifl my nook, He's good for six chapters of my Iibrary book. Bob Carson's ambitious, he speaks with a flare, Me thinks he is eyeing Jim Gartshore's Mayor's chair. Somnetimes deputations for developers are fun, Especially when its the pair, We cali twëecle dee and tweedle dum. Joy Thomp*son bitterly complains, about the grocery shop She feels that ail customners are entitled to a car-hop. But in jolly old England, groceries are really a drag, You- not only tote, you supply your own bag. Joe Drumm's as refreshing as Sweet Irish Spring, Until one night I caught hlm, Doing the highland fling. Bob Attersley sees Whitby, As somnethingunique, If no one supports him, our future will be bleak. Keep* up the good work Bob, ,We're ail behind you, -Ive saved your newspaper clippings, Just to rernind you., Gerry is priceléss, he takes on à big load, But Gerry, we're stili waiting For repairs, on Powell Road, Then'there's the great planning department, telling us what its, ah about. They surely are somnething, - we could aIl do without. Doc McEwen cornes in, with his eye on the- 'tilI Saying lets raise the taxes, our pockets to fi. On new deputy clerk, he really does dash, When, on a broken sidewalk, you trip, Its repaired in a flash. ýAlthough your coruituents, crack jokes and make fun, ~We couldn't do better for councillors, in the long run And so Happy New Year, to our Council and staff, This column is meant only, for a good laugh. Sec you next week.
