WFIITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1977, PAGE 9 At the end of Decemnber, Jack Woodward, Executive Director of the Whitby County Town Carnival, is re- tiing from his position of traffic manager at Dayton Tire Ltd. Mr. Woodward has served as customs and traffic manager for Dunlop Canada Ltd. and Dayton Tire Ltd. for 23 years. lie came to Whitby in 1961 when the head office of Dunlop moved from Toronto. Last Wednesday a retire- ment party was held by the Traffic Committee of the Rubber Association of Can- ada, of which Mr. Woodward is a past chairman. Thursday, the staff of Dayton Tire held a retirement party for Mr. Woodward at the Whitby Curling Club. Mr. Woodward has beeii. known in Whitby for many years fôr his communlty in« volvemrent and hopes to de- vote m ,ore time to these activities on his retirement. ONARD LORT« CSORF*tPTON Weapons charge heard youth will be sentenced in Oshawa provincial court Jan. 12 on a charge of danigerous use of a weapon. He pleaded guilty to the charge last week. The court was told that David Buss of 176 Thickson Road North becamne involved in an argument with another man in* a pool hall Nov. 14 face. with a nine-inch knife, saying he was going to cut bis nose off. The court was told that Buss then tried to stab the man in the artn. Buss, in a statement to police at the time said he did not want to fight and only pulled the knife in order to scare the other man.
