WHITBY FREE PRESSI Jaycee Wéek events, Jaycee Week in Canada was held fromn September 18 to September 25 and Mayor Gartshore proclaimed' that week Jaycee Week here in Whitby. On Monday, six Whitby Jaycees, attended the Oshawa Jaycees Dinner Meeting and made a presentation to the Oshawa President. On Tuesday, they held a General meeting in the Board Room at the Psychiatrie Hospital; tis meeting was open for anyone wishing to attend. During the noon hour on Wednesday, the Jaycees can- vassed ahl parked cars on Brock and Dundas Streets putting a phamphlet on 'Lock it & Pocket the Key' under the windshield wipers. During this canvas, they found 43 Renovations begin at* the library Starting Monday, Oct. 3, the long awaited renovations to the library building »'ill begin. During the next fewV months, the Library Staff will continue to bring services to the people of Whitby in spite of the inconveniences necessary to brmng about our new exciting library building. Temporary walls will be erected, and the present entrances will not be used. The library plans to use the side entrance to the west, leading directly into the library area., Directional signs will be posted pointing the way to the new tempor- ary entrance. Space will be at a premium for the moment, but ail the services will be continued to the very bestofthe library's ability. To enter the library - take the door on the west side of the building. To enter the library office, the Film De- partment, and. the Programn Room - take the back door near thelparkirig lot. To end the week', on Sunday, a breakfast plus a Car Rally was run at Iroquois Park. The rally was 70.8 miles in length. The rally was won by Sandy McPherson and Jack McCorkell. The second place teamn winners were Brian MacLeod & Arthur Hoonseil; the third place winners were Robert Mason & T. A. Gifford. AlI in all, the Whitby Jaycees had a good week.
