The Kent Building, a two- storey office structure, was buit this year at a cost of nearly haif a million dollars by Katina Developments of West Hill. The principal owners and contractors of Katina Developments are Steve Wagner and Dominico Marcelli. The Kent Building has a total area of 12,500 square feet -of which more than 50 per cent is alreatly leased. Tenants on the first floor are Manchester Comrnunity Credit Union, Co-Operators Insurance Co., Gregory McConnell, chiropractor, and James P. A. Prentice, an optician. On the second fluor are Doctors Max Neiman and Uarry Weingarten, dentists, and IMA Financial Services, a mortgage brokerage firm. Two stores are still avail- able on the ground floor, one of 723 square feet and one of 944 square feet, and there is 3,000 square*feet available on the second floor. Man'ge' Reg FieWellingý says there will be coffee and refreshments served at the bank for the first three days. $Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Moniday to Wednes- day and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. The bank will have six staff members: a manager, branch administration officer, boans officer, teller-typist and two tellers. The Oshawa-Whitby Uited Way campaign officially gets underway October 3 with a goal of $860,000, an increase of eight per cent over last year. Twenty-eight non-profit agencies are being supported by the United Way, including the Whitby District Cou ncil of Boy- Scouts wh-ich joined this year. The campaign wilI be- carried out through payroll deductions this year; and not through door-to-door canvas- sing, says Chairman Frank Taylor. Letters requesting donations are being sent to homes of people who are retired or work outside the local area.
