Whitby's 1Legion Brarich 112 won the Platoon cornpetition, the >Whitby Brass Band won the brass, trumnpet the bugle bands competition, and the Oshawa Legion Branch 43 won in the pipe and drum band conipe- tition. The Ontario Reginient Army Cadets won two prizes, and first for cadets. The Whitby Sea Cadets won second prize for drumn and bugle bands. General Sir Neil Ritchie, a resident of Green River, who commanded the Eighth Armny forces in the Wester.n Oesert of North Africa in the Second World War, was the guest of honor and delivered an address to the varjous military groups participating in the service. General Ritchie said he was very mnuch impressed with what he had seen and praised the groups for their dedication. He also paid tribute to the dedication of Queen Elizabeth and lier "great sense of shown, and you in your own way are showing that saine dedication", he said. After the singing of "O Canada", Branch 112 Padre Rev. Bob Mansfield conducted a short service of allegiance to lier Majesty, and Rev. A. Woolcock said prayers for the Queen and asked those assembled to rededicate them- selves anew to 'their Queen, their country and ail that stands for freedoni. He also asked the people to remember those who laid down their lives in the war for that freedom. the Last sang the progranl concluded with the singiflg Qf "The Queeri", and a grand march past General Rit'chie, wh.o took the salute. George Ashe MPP, brought greetings fromn the Provincial Governmeflt, and Mayor Jimn Gartshore spoke on behaif of the Town of Whitby, praîsing the Legion for its work in preparing the Silver Jubilee service. The rededication service will be shown within the next few weeks on Cable TV, and an edited copy will be .sent to the Queen. The Ontario Regiment Cadets, winners of first prize for the best drum and bugle band and best cadet unit, march past the reviewing stand at Sunday's Legion Silver Jubilee Service. The service attracted a number of local and out-of-towfl military groupS to participate in a tribute to Qucen Elizabeth.
