Whitby is doubly honored by this auspicious event, for our home teamn is in the playoffs and we are the host town for the series. Many times, Whiitby's tearns have won national and even international charnpionships in fiar-away commnunities, but now we have the rare opportunity to win a national championship at home. This is the first time li the 76-year history of the Minto Cup that this charnpionship series lias been played in Whitby. Lacrosse fans will remnember that in the 1 960s Oshawa's Green Gaels won the Minto Ctîp seven times. The odds-makers will be watching this series with more than usual interest, for the west lias flot won a Mlinto Ciîp two years ini succession for 23 years. Victoria B.C. won last year and the Burnaby team is hoping to beat the jinx. ..We in Whitby are justly proud of our Junior A Lâcrosse teamn, which lias been in the Junior A league only three years. We are confident of their abilities to keep the jinx working against the West. To the CBC Buikiers, we say: best of luck and bring to Whitby the Minto Cup riglit here ini our own Iroquois Park. To Whitby residents, whether or îiot they are avid lacrosse fans, we say: turn out to the gaines ini theMinto Cup series and.support your teamn. It is an opportunity for fun, exciteinent and community pride, you won't want to miss. rP Manpower Department gets a new name and a new offi1ce r Dear Sir: My purpose for writing this letter has the dual functions of introduction and farewell.
