Bruno Harilaid, a down- town buisinessmlan, lias offered the cadets the use of hi§ building at 131 Brock Street North, adjacent to the Brock Theatre. The building, a former pool hall and boat show room, is cent rally-located for miost of the cadets, and the window display area will provide a place to show off the corps' activities, says the command- ing officer Capt. Jimi VaiiderEnde. The sea cadets were offered a dozen different new homes following an appeal in the press after their former headquarters was closed. The 300 Dunlop Street building is being demolished to provide an access to the new senior citizens apartments. on Collorne Street. The Whitby Sea Cadet Corps, founded in January 1971, presently has 55 cadets aged 13 to 19, four officers and three civilian instructors. Capt. VanderEnde hopes to have 75 cadets in the corps by Christmas. Previously, imited space meant soine prospective cadets had to be turned away, hie said.
