Merchants' first loss The Wh-itby Merehants took their first loss of the season against Peterborough in E.O.B.A. Senior action during the long weekend. it was a closeiy contested gaine with Peterborough ont- hiitting Whitby with 10 hits to Witby's 5 to win the gaine by a score of 6 to 3. The Merchants let rip slightiy in the 8th inning letting Peter- borough score 3 nins. Teamn captain George Yates started on the rnound for Whitby until being relieved by Steve Sarginson in the 4th who struck out 7 batters. Dave Alen finiishiei the pitching duties allowiig enly 1 hit. Peter- boroughi also went through 3 pitchers as John H-uddel- stone w'as ejected frein the gaine by Rod Filiier for unsportsman-like conduci.
