Morning Reports 6:20 & 7:e20 W eather 1350 ,Sports and News THE OSHAWA STATION New Royal Bank branch bulIt Construction began last week on a new branch of the Royal Bank of Canada, which will open at the corner of Dundas and Anderson Streets in July. The 2,500 square foot bank is being built by CDS Construction, of Whitby, and designed by Royal Bank architects. Cost is estimated at $300,000 flot including interior furnishings. The building will be pre- fabricated,' with the outer walls made of pre-formed câncrete slabs 10 by. 14 feet that will be trucked in, and lifted into place*by crane. Along with t he other pre- fabricated parts, the building shell can be put up in oniy three days, says Frank Bennett, mnanager of the down- town branch of the Royal B3ank. .The new bank wilI be 60 by 42 feet, with landscaping and parking for a dozen cars. According to Mr., Bennett, the new bank is being con- structed to meet the nearby needs of the area surrounding Dundas and Andà rson Streets, and will fi the gap between the Roy'al Bank in downtown Whitby and the branch at Simcoe and Bond Streets in Oshawa. This is a Canada wide projeet designed to give the Scout movement the opportunity to work in the outdoors in reforest- ing Canada. The planting this year will be in our Town of Whitby. Ail levels of Scouting from Beavers to Leaders. 10,000 trees in 2,500 trees in 2,500 trees in Parents and other inter- ested parties wiIl be involved. Funds for the advancenent of Scouting will be raised by means of the projeet. A joint effort of the Boy Scouts of Canada, Whitby Recreation Dept., and the Whitby District Boy Scouts. INFORMATION FOR PLANTING DAY 1. DOress for the weather. Take along rain wear just in case. 2. Wear hard-soled shoes or boots. Digging with a spade is hard on the feet. 3. Mark ail equipment and toais with the owner's name. It saves a lot of sorting out later. 4. Every person to bring: a) Lunch and heverage. b) Strong, sharp spade. (Long-handied ones are best). c) Pail to carry trecs. 5.
