WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 1977, PAGE U COMING ÉVENTS SCHOOL MEETING Guest speaker at the Sinclair Home and Sehiool Association meeting April 1 2 at' 8 p.m. will be Gail Lederer, Chairmian of the School Volunteer Commrittee. Shie wil1 explain the voluinteer programi ranging from extra tutoring, dealing with the disruptive child. special talents, different cultures, aiding in luncheon supervision, and acco mpany- ing children on field trips. Anyone wlio likes helping children is invited to attend. A luncheon will follow the meeting. FRENCH CAFE NIGHT Whitby Arts ne., will present "Cafe A La Gare", featuring food, wine, music, games, entertainment, films, dancing and a draw, at the Station April 15 from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be a light crepe dinner, and a glass of wine included in the admission price, can-can dancers, and other entertainers, and films of "La Belle France". The highlight of the even- ing wilI be- a draw for a Japanese Brush Painting by Sue Tabuchi, an instructor at the Station. Tickets for the painting are available from Whitby, Arts members or at the Nearly New Shop. Tickets for the French Cafe Night are available at the Nearly New Shop and Middle- ton's Book Store, or by phoning Lisa Chang, 668-5398 or Eleanor Kidd, 668-4085. SENIORS' ACTIVITIES A number of activities are planned for April at the Senior Citizens Centre at Brock and Pitt Streets. On April 15 at 7:30 p.m.- Dorothea Johnson wiIl be showing films on Hawaii. Thursday April 21 at 2 p.m. is the centre's monthly birthday party, and April 29 at 7:30 p.m. there will be films of the west coast of British Columbia and Alaska. The centre wil be closed April 8 to il for the Easter hôlidays, but will open at 7:30, p.m. April Il for cribbage. NEWCOMERS CLUB The Oshawa-Whitby Newcomers Club will be holding its next meeting April 13 at 8 p.m. in the Blue Flame Room at the Consumers Gas Building. ALMONDS REUNION Memnbers of the former party will be held by the 4th Whitby Scouts Ladies' Auxiliary at St. Mark's United Church hall April 26 at 6:30 p.m., with proceeds to assist the Scouts and 'Venturers attending the Canadian Janiboree in Prince Edward Island. PIYAH ART AUCTION On Sunday, April 24, 1977 the Piyah Art Auction will be held in the Picadilly Room of the Genosha H-otel, 70 King Street East, Oshawa. The preview is fromi 1:00 p.nl. to 7:00 p.m. and is free of charge. The auctioneer, Henry Kahn of Port Perry, begins the Art Auiction at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the auction is $2.50 per person which includes refreshments. and door pnizes.
