Whitby town m'ayors One of the features of Whitby's new municipal building, which opensofficially Saturday will be a portrait gallery of the town's former ilia\;ors. Pictures of 27 of the town's 42 miayors wiîl be installed ini January ini a format simnilar tu the dispîay of portraits of former' Ontario County wardens in t he Durhami Regiorial lheadquarters. The portraits are copies of photographs, oit *paintings, and sketches of Whitby's inayors since 1855, conipiled by the Whitby Historical Society. The gallery begins with a phiotograph of Whitby's first mayor, James Rowe, who took office in 1855 when the town wvas incorporated, and concludes with the incunibent mnayor Jiru Gartshore.
