And, of course, by this time, 1 was getting in dire need of one. Finding the shovel didn't help nîuch as it seemed every time 1 started to shovel the walk along would come a candidate or his friend or relative or whatever and 1 would be forced to stop and hear the person out. 1 found most of themn didn't accept our littie subtîcties, like shovelling snow, on their shoes while they were talking or telling theni you think you heur their mother calling. So 1 listcned and in between listening 1 shovelled (snow that is) and at the time of this writing I still have a heck of a lot of snow left to shovel but 1 sure do know ail the candidates and how they'll improve îny standard of living, lower my taxes and raise rny wagcs. They all had one thing in common; non of themn volunteered to help me with the snow shovelling. So my *îioor littie mind as boggling with ail these happenings and one nighit on TV there appcaired Santa giving out hints for Christmias and 1 usked "Whut's Santa doing on TV ut this tume of year??" 0f course the reply was "because it's Christmuas! !" That really. floored mie. 1 handmnade old-faslhioned decorations. H-ay rides will be available thanks to the Brooklin Kinsmen. Val 655-4317. couldn't believe it, so I grabbed a Free Press and looked at the date. Sure enough,,as if 1 didn't have enough things ,on my mind, it was time to get down to somne serlous shopping. 1 began to wonder through- stores in a daze mumbling "If 1 go home from work early I can shovel the south haif of the drive, and if 1 vote for .. .. ..my taxes will drop but my kids might have to go to sehool in Brooklin and if. ... The odd shopper gave me a look. I even considered lining up to sit on Santa's lap and when it came my turn asking him if he could postpone Christmas until June or so. Anyway, as of today, it's stili snowing, the candidates are stili politicking and Christmnas is stili coming. What have I done to deserve such punishment?? Oh well, by the tîme you read this at least we will have eliminated the politicking because the elections will be over and then L'l only be faced with the snow and the shopping.
