The Oshawa Kinsmen won the "B" chamipionship. This softball tournamnent is a yearly competition between eight teams within the I zone. As last year's victor, Brooklin was responsible for hosting the event this vear. Visiting teams enjoyed the hospitality of the Brooklin Kinsmenl later in the day at the Brooklin Commnunity Centre. -September saw Kinsman Bill Biggs namied Kinsman,,n of th,ç Year for the Brooklin club. The Don Vipond trophy for Kinsman of the Year, donated by charter president, Don Vipond, was awarded to him along with a plaque. This award will be given annually to the member whiolhas shown outstanding community involvement, committment to ail Kinsmen projects and generally promoted the objectives of the Kinsmen club through faithful attendance at meetings and the introduction of new members to the organization. Congratulations Mr. Biggs! The next meeting of the Brooklini Kinsinen will be on Wednesday, October l3th. This will be a special "Civic Night" to which the Mayor and the council have been invited. The U C W of the Brooklin United Church are sponsoring an Oriental Cooking School on Thursday, XOctober 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the C.E. Building of the Brooklin United Church. The cost will be $1 .25 per person and the delicious meals prepared will constitute the door prizes. A free cookbook will be available containing recipes for the featured dishes. Corne out and learn to cook an entirely different kind of meal. Everyone is welcome. Tickets will be available from UCW members and also at the door. The UCW are also busily preparing for their Home and Hearth Bazaar which will offer a great variety of sale items in roorn settings appropriate to their use. For example, foodstuffs will appear in the "Pantry" rooiu. The bazaar is planned for November 6th fror 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.nl. You are invited to corne and brouse around. Refreshnients will be available.
