The Warriors were paced by the three-goal performanùce of Charlie Convery, a high- scoring forward obtained in the off-season from the now- defuinct Napanee Cornets. The Warriors got, off' on the wrong foot, however, and found themnselves trailing 2-0 after 1 2:48 of the first period. Gary Linquist opened the scoring when he beat Whitby goaltender Dave Hulme at 6:39 while the Twins had a power play with Mike Keenan, off for tripping. Dave Nuttail increased the visitors' margin six minutes later. Warriors' captain Pete Vipond put Whitby on the scoreboard when his slap shot from the point eluded Twins' netmiînder Ken Turko while'Turko's teammate Russ Elliott watched from the penalty box. Convery's goal midway through the second period put the Warriors on even terms. He drilled a low slap shot from inside the blueine past Turko. Convery picked* up his second goal on the power play when he deflected a feed fromn Don Pugnutti into'the Twins' net. The turning point in the game was a two-minute stretch late ini the second period and early in the third whien the Warriors were two men sh'ort.
