1Whitby Minor Baseba!! Association* opens ifs 1976 season on Saturday From Page 10 Bill Wolters, no stranger to the Whitby basebail scene, is taking over the reins of the t-bahl group, the youngest in the W.M.B.A. program, and latest plans call for a nine- teain loop. The t-bal division is one of the most enthusiastic of the W.M.B.A. groups with strong parental support and W.M.B.A. officiais wish that the interest and willingness to heip displayed by the parents in this group would continue on into the higher divisions. The tyke division is bcing headed up in '76 by Woody Lee who has been.involved as a coach at the tyke level in previous seasons. This group shapes us as an eight-team league. Dean Keating, who doubles as the W.M.B.A. Registrar and who may turn out with the Merchants to give himseif a baseball-filled season, is in charge of the peewee group with six clubs. Plans at the bantam and midget-juvenile levels have flot yet been finalized, but there could be a four-team bantam league and a four- teamn midget-juvenile league with clubs from Oshawa and Courtîce entered aiong with two Whitby teams which could be the makings of a very interesting season for the older boys. At the E.O.B.A. level, schedules called for the K of C. Tykes to open in Ajax yesterday with the home opener tomorrow. The K of C club is lined up with Oshawa, Ajax, Belleville, Trenton, Lindsay, Bowman- ville and Peterborough. The Legionaires, Whitby's entry in E.O.B.A. ranks were to have opened in Ajax on May i 8th, with a home opener here tomorrow. Tlhe opener on the road was "frozen out" but tomorrow 's game is stili on at the last report amnid some talk al sehedules might be set back because of the outrageous weather of the past two weeks which have thrown diamonds into unplayable shape and set clubs far behind in getting prepared for the season. On the bantam front, Whitby is scheduled to host Bowmanville tonight, at Peel while up at Fairman the Whitby midget club is slated to get the season underway hosting Oshawa.
