Regional Reprsentation: Bruno Harilaid has no political aspirations ta use Whitby as a political jumping board. There- fore he will represent Whitby for Whitby only as a full time Mayor and assure you that we ail will get our fair share. 2. Open Government: Bruno Harilaid believes in input by the people. For that purpose the council meeting-s other than those regarding personnel matters, must -be open to the public. A council member's responsibility is to the people wvho elected him and iiot to fellow members-. No counicil member, and especially the Mayor, can funiction fairly if he is associated with or obligated to any particular ratepayers' graup. 3. New Town Hall: Bruno Harilaid says the new municipal building is a typical issue of bureaucracy, political expediency and a seil ont of taxpayers' riglits. The people opposed it strongly in 1972 (includîng Mr. Gartshore). In 1975 the council approved it in its final formn without it being on the agenda and without the presence or knowledge of the public or press (but with Mr. Gartshore and Mr. Goodwin in attendance and in full approval). People have the right to know how their millions of tax dollars are being spent before final decisions are made. 4. Stop the New Town Hall: Bruno Harilaid says the cost to stop the new municipal building would be about 1 million dollars- Taxpayers cannot afford it. 5. Disclosure of uterest: Bruno Harilaid is the only candidate who has publicly declared that he will disclose any and aIl of assets and interests in Whitby. 6. Future Growth: Bruno Harilaid says that a detinite housing shortage exists in this area. Whitby must help take its fair share of residential development.
