FIURE Si ATERS READY FOR MIEET Whitby Figure Skating Club members are now busily practising Pr the "Pine Ridge Interclub Competi- ion" to be held at Iroquois Park Arena in Whitby, on, Sun- day, February 23. The Whitby Club is host- ing the al-day event which includes skaters from Ajax, Port Hope, Cobourg, New- castle, Orono, Oshawa, Port Perry, Bowmanville, Uxbridge and Whitby. The competi- tion consists'of '1O categories and each club is eligible to send its top three skaters in each category. Presentations will be made at the conclusfon of the com- petition at which. Urne gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the skaters placing first, second and third in each category. The "Pine Ridge Competi- tion" is the first major.com- petition to be hosted by the Whitby Figure Skating Club. Whitby figure skaters need your support and encourage- ment on February 23, as they compete, hopefully for top honours. There may flot be any Karen Magnussens or Don Jack- sons in the Witby Figure Skating Club but the kids are tryning. Lauri Ormston, Thomas Anhus, Janet Vesters, Kevin Kornic., Joanne Gallagher, Brian Napper, Paula Gaudet and Michelle Gibner niake up the back row.
