The first period was one of the slowest the Mac's have played all season. The ab- sence of injured Wayne Weller appeared to have taken its toll on the Mc- Donalds. Wayne will be out for 3 weeks and was up to this time the leagues leading score r. In the second period Les Collingan received a pass from Dick Cherry and put Napanee out in front 1 - 0. Whitby finally got it together seven minutes later when Carl Ahlsten, took a shot which hit a leg and went into the net with twenty five sec- onds left in the period and Ed Philpott of Whitby put it up top on a passing play from Carl Ahlsten and Tim Pelyk. The third period opened quickly as -McDonalds Bob Munro assisted by Peter Vipond and Gary Milroy flipped the puck up and in, at the 32 second mark into the period. Then a beautiful play came from Mike Keenan passing the puck behind the Comets defense to Gord Mc- Cosh who wasted no time beating Napanee's Darcy Todd Chasczewski P Bill Easdale Warren Smith (2) David Blacquiere Bobby Middleton Whitby NVcDonalds Doug Tate (15) and Gord McCs (12), there was a rebound from Napanee net minder Darcy Walters. The next home game for the Whitby McDonalds at Iroquois Park Arena will be Thursday November 7 at 8:30 p.m. against the Cam- bridge Hornets. B.W. Loses 4-3 The B.W. C.B.X. Juveniles tasted defeat at the hands of their counterparts from Lind- say on October 27th in a game played in Lindsay, going down by a count of 4 to 3. The following night in a contest played at Iro- quois Park they had to corne from behind to tie Ajax at 2 all. In the first game Lindsay led at the end of the first period on godls by Bob Wal- lace and Murray Ray, but by the end of two period of play, the C.B.C.'s had tied the game with Jim DeMille and Harry Forbes putting markers. The B.W. squad went ahead in the final frame on a hard drive from the stick of 'Big' Tim Brown. How- ever, a deserved unnecessary roughness penalty to the C.B.C.'s Joe Forbes gave the Lindsay team a nan's advantage which they promptly made the most of with Bob Wallace notching his second goal of the game. Lindsay made full use of the unsettling effect this goal had on the visitors, and 16 sec- onds later Dave Hawkins popped home the winning goal. B.W. pulled their goaler with a minute left in the game in an unsuccessful bid for at least one point. As rported previously this tearrt has more than enough potential to go along way, but they will have to learn two facts early. The first is, "team work wins hockey games" and the sec- ond is "you can't win hockey games by having to kill stupid unnecessary penalties." The C.B.C. team is still soliciting your vocal support but we're sure the follows would appreciate more "team" support in place of the cheers reserVd for individuals. Let's give it a trv. The Hillers won their away game against Weston 7 - 2 with Greg Sandford get- ting a hat trick. A win Sunday night would have put them into second place in provincial junior 'A' competition. The first period started slow for the Hillers, with Seneca out skating Whitby. Seneca went on the socre- board first beating AI Mc- Sorely on the glove side 12:22 into the game. Whitby's Jim Duignan was set up beautifully by Alex Elston and Greg Sanford in front of Seneca's net, and he wasted no time in tying the game. The Hillers relaxed as Seneca put on a rush that saw John Martini for Seneca slide the puck under the pads of netminder AI McSorely giving the Flyers a 2 - 1 lead at the end of the period. The second period was a disaster for Whitby, on sever- al attempts at the net noth- ing went right, pertect passes with no one to receive them and shots that bounced off goal posts. As for Seneca, they managed to put two more pucks into the Whitby ne t. The third period started as an attempt at body check- ing with both teams chang- ing to stick swinging which saw two fighting penalties called back to back resulting in 10 minutes to each team . Tom Brown put one in for Whitby at the 14:49 mark and one minute later Bruce Newton. pulled the Hillers within one. Coach Jack Armstrong pulled AI McSorely out of the net for .the extra attacker but Seneca's Gord Barclay proved too much for Whitby as he skated around the defense and put the puck into the empty net, giving Seneca the 5 - 4 victory.
