Many thanks should go to the people who have volunteered their time and energy to coach. the teams and umpire games. A total of 180 girls are registered between the ages of 7 and 13. The girls have been divided into two separ- ate leagues - 7 to 9 and 10 to 13. Wherever possible, each girl has been put on a team close to where she lives. On Monday, May 8th a Softball Clinic was held for all those interested in helping to coach or umpire during the 1974 season. Mr. Frank Henderson of Oshawa volunteered his time to give a session on softball rules and coaching tips. Mr. Henderson has had a great deal of experience with girl's softball and proved to be an excellent resource person for the evening. Following his session the coaches were assign- ed to teams and the "House Rules" were reviewed. There are five teams playing in the age 7 to 9 league. The following are the locations of these teams: Henry Street High School, Centennial Park (north diamond), E.A. Fairman (east diamond), Palmerston School and Dr. Robert Thornton School. Their games will be held every Thursday, evening, at 6:45 p.m. starting May 30th. There are six teams playing in the 10 to 13 League. The following are the locations of these teans: Henry Street High School, Centennial Park (north diamond), E.A. Fairman (east diamond), Hutchison School, Dr. Robert 2 Thornton School and Brooklin Senior Public School. These girls will be playing every Tuesday evening at 6:45 2 p.m. starting May 28th. If there are any more girls wishing to register please come to the Recreation Departnent office at 105 Colborne 0 Street East. We still have room for a few more girls. The following is a list of coaches for each team and the umpires who will be officiating at games. Both parents and children should thank these people for giving of their time to help make the 1974 Girl's Softball League a reality! 0 7 to 9 years: Henry Street High School E.A. It plans to bring a conglom- eration of exercise for the physically fitness-minded per- son and a social atmosphere conducive to those who wish to meet new people, all en- compassed within a frame- work of good clean fun. A program has been work- cd out to allow for the beginner, the intermediate & the advanced skater to dance, participate in games, and other specialties scheduled for their enjoyment. The supervisor of roller skating is Mr. Ken Barber, who has had numerous years exper- ience running roller skate pro- grams in Toronto, Hamilton the Niagara Peninsula area and presently working in Aj- ax. le brings with him a qualified staff and a positive attitude necessary in getting the program through the in- itial seasori with success. New skates are provided by him and are included free in the admission price. Day - Thursdays Tume - 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Begins - June 13, 1974 Cost - $1.35 per person (includes rental of skates). Location - Iroquois Park Arena. It will be a fine night's entertainment with "some- thing for everyone" in an atmosphere conducive to total enjoyment. Notice.o Icion by the Corporation of the Town of Whitby for Approval of a By-law Imposing a Sewer Rate The Council of the Corporation of the Town of Whitby intends to apply to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval to charge the whole of the cost for the construc- tion of an addition to the Corbett Creek Pollution Control Plant at an estimated cost of $492,000.00 as a sewer rate for a period of 15 years upon lands that will or may derive a benefit therefrom. It is proposed to raise the whole of the annual payments by an annual rate estimated at 1.45 mills. The following is an example of the annual charge on an average dwelling property having an assessment of $5,000.00: $7.25 annually for a period of 15 years being a total of $108.75 (a) The area upon which such sewer rate is to be levied is described in Schedule "A" att- ached to and forming part of this notice. (b) There will be no exemptions granted. Any ratepayer may, .within 21 days after the first publica- tion of this notice, send by prepaid post to the Clerk of the Town of Whitby, at an address given below, a notice in writing stating his objection to such approval or to the imposition of the special rate. The Ontario Municipal Board may approve of the said special rate pursuant to the Statutes and may approve of the said works, but before doing so it may appoint a time and place for a public hearing when any objections will be considered, but notice of such hearing will be given only to those persons who have given notice of objection as provided for above. SCHEDULE "A" COMMENCING at a point at the south-west angle of the Town ofWhitby as it existed on the 31st day of December, 1967, where it intersects the north shore of Lake Ontario.
