Regional Police Requested to Enf orce Traff ic Regulations The Pickering Counicil passcd a resolution request- ing the Durham Region Pol- ice Force t0 "enforce the regulations of the Highway Traffic Act as il relates Io Class "B" Roads, and that the Class "B" Roads be post- ed accordingly." Sideline road 10/ 11 in Concession 7 and 8 otf Pick- ering is a Class "B"' road. This road is being used by a considerable number of gra- vel trucks whose gravel vol- ume weighît "exceeds the reg. ulations on Class "B" roads." This is the class designa- tion of roads that haven't a heavy asphalt pavement and are frequen tly gravel or "dirt" roads. Trucks travelling over them during this type of weather carrying loads that are excessive in weight soon destroys a road. This then becomes an additional cost burden both to the munici- pality and the taxpayer. AI- ready the signs are up restric- ting trucks to haif loads. This restruction wiIl continue from now until late April or early May depending on the spring break up conditions. Drivers and trucking firms violating the half load restrictions can face the penalty of a fine every tiine they violate the regulations. Ask for titis fokier f rom our representative, MR. E.
