THURSDAY APRIL 26, 1973, PAGE 15 Whitby to hold big walk May 2Sth and back to the High Sehool parking lot. It will be a very interesting walk with regular checkpoints looked after by Whitby Ser- vice Clubs, and generally or- ganized on the same basis as the Miles for Millions Walks. The route is being approved by the Whitby Police Depart- mient who will give their usual excellent services. Radio communications, first aid service if needed, bus service and other services will be arranged. 90% of the net proceeds will go to the Whitby Pool camnpa ign and 10% will go to the Y Youth Fund. Sponsor forms will be dis- tributed shortly. In the past Miles for Millions ail the Whit- by Schools have given marvel- ous support. Families are be- ing encouraged to walk to- 8ether on this scenie route. We are very encouraged and enthusiastie with the plans to walk now and swim later in Whitbv. For four years Whitby has taken a very active part in the Miles for Millions Annual Walk. This year it has been cancelled because of the Sum- mer Cames in Oshawa and the proposed Whitby Swimming Pool Campaign. The Whitby YMCA and Youthpower have taken a leading part, together with the Whitby Service Clubs in the organization of these Miles for Millions programs that have raised mnany thousands of dollars for overseas needy causes and up to- 25% of the total for more local assistance. This year the Whitby Y assisted by Youthipower is again organizing the Walk for Whitby on a very special basis. It will be a Walk for Whitby with the themne "Stroil for a Sivimi Goal" The walk will begin and end at Henry Street High School parking lot at the rear of the school and will be a 15 muile walk throughi sorte of the interesting side roads of Whitby.
