TheOntarioMunicipal Board has given us another oppor- t un i t y to record opposition to the projected new municipal complex at a location north of the Third Concession. W e the Whitby Ci tizens Study Group oppose this project on the following grounds: - (A) W i th Regional Government coming so soon, how can a need be clearly established, for much larger accommodation for our municipal government? (B) The l oc at i on is so far removed from the present town centre as to essentially abandon it in favour of a new one. (C) The declared cost , while approaching a million doll- ar s , does not include the cost of the land or its servicing. (D) I t i s our contention this will again increase our mill ratenext year, ami11 rate which went up 6.5 mil1s this year. (E) We question if further expansion on the present site was ever thoroughly investigated. (F) Premature departure from the present site is a moral breach of the acceptance of the late A.H. Allin's bequest. This project could proceed WITHOUT A PUBLIC VOTE un- I ess concerned c* tizens lodge written protests BY JUNE 27 to: - Whitby Town Clerk, 105 Dundas Street vest, Whitby, Ontario.
