- Harold Boys was born at Laskay, ON on 5 September 1897. He joined the Toronto York Rangers and was wounded at the battle of Yrpes in 1914 and spent 18 months in a hospital in England before being transferred to the Military Convalescent Hospital at Whitby in 1918.
Following his convalescence, Boys worked as a mechanic in Oshawa and opened a garage in Bowmanville and later in Whitby. He operated the garage located on Dundas St. W. from 1925 until his retirement in 1965.
Boys joined the Whitby volunteer Fire Department in 1931 and later became its engineer, servicing fire trucks until his retirement in May 1965. He was honoured by the Fire Department for his 30 years of service and received a special medal from the Ontario Fire Marshall's Office.
Boys died at Whitby on 20 May 1993 and is buried in Groveside Cemetery. - Date of Original
