- John Franklin Batty was born near Brooklin on 14 October 1915 and took over the family farm, Crescent Stock Farm, in 1931, raising Clydesdale horses and Jersey cattle. He was a breeder, exhibitor, and livestock judge.
In 1954-55, Batty was president of the Clydesdale Horse Association of Canada and its representative to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair from 1949-1985.
Mr. Batty died at Whitby on 13 July 1995 and is buried in Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin, Ontario. - Date of Original
