- Gerald Robinson was born at Tara on 27 July 1927. He came to Whitby on 1 April 1956 to serve as police constable. He rose to the positions of acting sergeant and detective sergeant and was appointed deputy chief of the Whitby Police Department in 1966.
In 1974 he joined Durham Regional Police as an inspector and served as regional deputy chief from 1983 until his retirement in May 1987.
Robinson was president of the Rotary Club of Whitby from 1977-1978 and in 1972 was master of David T. Campbell Masonic Lodge in Whitby. In 1982 he was named Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He passed away on November 26, 2013. - Date of Original
