I chanced upon this death notice when trying to find an old childhood friend -HILLAR JUHAN POTSEP. If this is the same Hillar Potsep whom I knew in the 1950s until 1966, his parents were from ESTONIA and fled following the Soviet occupation. They went to Sweden where Hillar was born in JANUARY 1947. They came to Canada in the late 40s or early 50s and settled in a house on Balsam Ave. in Toronto. Hillar attended Balmy Beach Public school with me from 1953 to 1961 and Williamson Rd. Senior public School 1961-62. He attended Malvern Collegiate for grade 9 in 1962-63 and then I THINK he went to Danforth Tech. I last spoke to him in the fall of 1966. His Dad worked in Toronto and his Mom worked at the Dominion Store at Victoria Pk and Kingston Rd. She died in 1965 of lung cancer. After 1966, Hillar dropped "off the radar". I have been trying to see the actual "death notice" that appeared in Oshawa Whitby This Week, 15 Sep.1989 but have had no luck. Apparently he died on Sept.12, 1989. I wanted to find if this was my old friend with whom I chummed from 1956-62, grade 3 to grade 8. We were in kindergarten, grade 3, grade 5 and grade 6 together. Is it possible to see the actual death notice? I live in North Bay Ontario having left Toronto in 1973. Many thanks.

I think that Hillar is my uncle´s son. My uncle Gustav Potsep disappeared during the war and we have heared nothing about him .I am waiting for any information about them.
Thank You

I am his only son and yes that is the same Hillar. If by chance any of you read this then feel free to reply and get in touch. I would love to know more about my dad since he passed just after my 16th birthday. I never met his parents as they had passed before I was born.
Same for any Potsep relatives. I know virtually nothing of this side of my family as my mother has passed on as well. Kind regards.
