- Black and white negative showing Mrs. Barnes (1855-1955) receiving flowers from Mayor Harry Jermyn and John R. Frost, town clerk, on her 100th birthday. Mrs. Barnes's birthday occurred in the same year as the Whitby centennial. The photograph was taken in her home at the south-east corner of Athol and Gilbert Streets.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Montreal. She came to Whitby about 1875 and died on 6 October 1955. - Notes
- Whitby celebrated its Centennial of Incorporation as a town from 26 June to 3 July 1955.
