About 600 competitors are coming to RIM Park for the 2023 Canadian Wrestling Champion- ships, March 9 to 12. Along with family, friends, coaches and offi- cials, the event i is expected to gen- erate $2.5 ion in economic spinoffs, according to Allister Scorgie, director of sports hosting for Explore Waterloo Region, the region's destination marketing organization. "We've never hosted an event like this for wrestling," said Scor- gie. "We've done it at the club level and, you know, kind of OFSAA wrestling events, but certainly never anything of this scale and alibre."
