Warren reminds people that admission to the carnival is free all weekend long and entertainers aren't remunerated for their performances, depending solely on spectator donations. "When people hear the word 'buskers,' they often think of somebody on a street corner," Warren adds. "These buskers are international buskers, and some of them are very trained in what they do. A num- ber of them have been trained at Cirque du Soleil or other circus schools around the world, so you're getting some pretty high-quality entertainment, but people can be the ultimate judge and decided how much they wish to contribute to each act." As international entertainers, Lisa Lottie and Reuben DotDotDot have had some big gigs, but their first love is street performing because it crosses boundaries of age, religion and socio-economic sta- tus. "You're entertaining for everyone, in- cluding people that might not get out to see it (at a ticketed show)," Reuben said. Everyone is encouraged to come out to smile, laugh and be amazed. "You forget about your worries and troubles for however long you spend watching the buskers and you're not sit- ting on your phone or in front of a TV," Warren said. "You're actually getting to see live entertainment by some pretty amazing and skilled people that travel all around the world doing this." Kids who are part of the Buskermania camp will perform on Friday at noon, and there will be interactive circus work- shops on Saturday and Sunday at noon.
