It's not only an unfair as- sumption, it completely ig- nores the benefits of expe- rience. Yes, fresh ideas and perspectives are exciting and enthusiastic, but we should take care not to un- derestimate the value of the institutional knowl- edge required to turn those ideas into meaning- ful policy. Sure, the names listed above (and more still) are as familiar to the local po- litical scene as the Aporia sculpture is to the city of Kitchener. But they bring with them to their roles a wealth of knowledge and experience that is not easi- ly replaced. There are valid argu- ments to be made both for and against term limits, but the reality is that one's time in office has always been limited to just one term. After each term -- or every four years -- they must seek our support to be returned to office.
