The region is conducting a survey ask- ing people for early input into Waterloo's Separated Cycling Network Pilot Project. Construction is now partially complete on the five-kilometre network in the city's university district, with linkages along King, Columbia, Albert and Erb streets, and University Avenue, with connecting links along the Laurel Trail through Wa- terloo Park. "Due to the early arrival of cold temper- atures, and wet and snowy conditions, the on-road intersection markings cannot be installed until warmer temperatures in Spring 2020," an advisory states. "In 2020, the Region will be installing the new pavement markings at intersec- tions that will help cyclist move through the major intersections along the pilot net- work. Until then, cyclist can visit the Re- gion's webpage for suggestions on how to navigate these intersections without road markings." According to a press release, regional staff will be gathering data on usage, main- tenance and operation practices during the winter months, and an online engage- ment survey on the Region's EngageWR.ca platform is now open for public input.
