The City ofWaterloo intends to pass an amending by-law to remove the holding provision (H) on the lands known municipally as 93-119 Roger Street. The removal of this holding provision will permit the development of two six-storey apartment buildings and seven stacked townhouse buildings with a total of 248 residential units (420 bedrooms). The development will also include two parks; the park at the corner of Roger Street and Moore Avenue South will be privately owned and publically accessible; the park at the west side of the property (fronting onto Roger Street) will be dedicated to the City for a new public park. This meeting shall constitute the public Notice of Intention To Pass An Amending By-law To Remove A Holding (H) Provision From The Zoning By-law under Section 36(4) of the Planning Act. It is expected that Council will decide whether the application should be approved, denied or amended. A copy of the staff report will be available prior to the Public Meeting. If Council approves the application, a by-law to amend the Zoning By-law will be passed to remove the holding symbol. The exhibition and programming gal- lery shut its doors at the end of day Friday (Nov. 13) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "We are living in unprecedented times when the importance of things in our lives must be shuffled into a proper list of priori- ties," said David Marskell CEO of the event space in a release. "We will work to amplify our response to the pandemic and continue to prioritize the safety of the public and our staff in all of the programming and services we pro- vide to our communities," the statement continued. The focus moving forward, the media statement said, will be on "virtual content programming and cultural content to visi- tors" through online and off-site events. NEWS THEMUSEUM TEMPORARILY SHUTS DOWN A 17-year-old boy was transported to hospital with serious injuries after being ejected from a pickup truck on Friday eve- ning in Waterloo. On Nov. 13, at approximately 11 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to re- ports of a motor vehicle collision in the ar- ea of 415 The Boardwalk. A pickup truck was being operated by the driver in the parking lot when the passenger, a 17-year- old Waterloo male, was ejected from the ve- hicle. The passenger was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The investi- gation is ongoing.
